We not only provide the basic laboratory needs for you; we’re constantly upgrading to better, faster and more reliable testing methods.
This is done by keeping abreast of the latest technologies, through which we can provide comprehensive clinical test menus to meet your needs. Clinipath is also able to advise on the types of tests to perform and can provide test series/panels on request.
Below is a snapshot of our wide test range:
- Prenatal Screening Program: Clinipath is the 1st private laboratory in Malaysia to introduce a comprehensive prenatal screening program which includes the First Trimester testing and the Second trimester testing which consists of the Double Test and the Triple Test.
- Heavy Metals: We are able to provide a wide range of heavy metal testing.
- Liquid Based Cytology: There has been an increase in demand for liquid based cytology tests in Klang Valley. By providing this test, we are able to provide doctors with early detection of cancer as well as introducing HPV Linear Array Genotyping tests to them.
- Specialised High End Testing: Clinipath has taken one step further in introducing specialised high-end tests which are rare among pathology labs in Malaysia. A few of these include:
- K-ras
- Her-2 Neu
- Sish (Silver In-Situ Hybridization)
- Cish (Cytokines In-Situ Hybridization)
- H1N1 PCR
- HPV PCR (Linear Array Genotyping)
You can also view a list of our standard tests on our medical laboratory tests page.
Clinipath actively participates in various local and international Quality Assurance Programs. These include:

RIQAS (Randox International Quality Assessment Scheme): an ISO9002 accredited program that covers more than 2,500 laboratories worldwide,

RCPA-QAP (Royal College of Pathology Australia Quality Assurance Program),

UKNEQAS (United Kingdom National External Quality Assessment Service),

LABQAS (Laboratory Quality Assurance Scheme), and

QCS (Quality Control Service) by Roche.
To provide you with the best advice on the selection and interpretation of medical lab tests, you not only have access our resident pathologists; our affiliation with Sonic Healthcare increases your exposure to our sister laboratories in various disciplines, including haematology, histopathology, cytology, immunology and clinical microbiology.
To ameliorate various logistical issues and shorten turnaround time for results, all our external laboratories are electronically linked to our server at Clinipath headquarters. Once we receive results electronically, we will dispatch hard copy of the results using conventional means to our clients.
We ensure the quality of these systems through our comprehensive laboratory processes and quality assurance programs.
When we speak of reliability, we’re looking at the accuracy and timeliness of the test results. This ensures that neither you nor your patient are misguided or inconvenienced by long waits for test results.
To provide accurate and reproducible results, we have implemented a comprehensive QC management system and all our instruments are maintained in the highest standard possible. Our team of dedicated validation officers will ensure the results that is given to our clients are reliable and accurate.
To provide timely results, our tightly integrated procedures with strong LIS (laboratory information system) and logistics capabilities enable us to achieve fast turnaround times.
Our mandate is that 80% of all general lab test reports, including histology & cytology are dispatched to you within 12 to 24 hours after receipt of the specimen. This is particularly emphasised in perinatal screening tests, where a 24-hour turnaround time has been our target. We are proud to say we have always achieved that target.
For tests beyond the scope of the our branch laboratories, we will ensure that you receive the results of these tests via fax or electronic means within 24 to 36 hours after dispatching the samples. Hard copies of the results will be sent to you within 48 hours of completion of tests (urgent tests are available within 24 hours).
However, should the test requested require forwarding to our sister laboratories in the Sonic Healthcare group, then the results shall be returned at the earliest possible time (usually less than 14 days).
Our equipment and methods are continually reviewed through our internal programs to ensure that they are up to date with current practice. This ensures our service is cost-effective and world-class. Below are examples of our recent advances:
Modern Diagnostic Services
Clinipath was the first private medical laboratory to provide an in-house facility for the Screening of Down’s Syndrome and Neural Tube Defects that utilises local demographic data for the measurement of M.O.M. The local data was collected from patients in Malaysia over a period of more than 2 years. The local demographic data takes into account the ethnic factors inherent in the risk measurement. This service is being widely used by the leading O & G practitioners in Malaysia.
Microwave Tissue Processing
We have also successfully started providing rapid histopathology diagnostic facilities using microwave tissue processing technique since June 2003. We are therefore able to make the turnaround time for histopathology specimens much faster. In fact, on arrival at our laboratory, the specimen is generally grossed, blocked, sectioned and reported within 24 hours. This report is then transmitted either by facsimile or electronically to the referring doctor immediately. It is our ongoing endeavour to further reduce the report generation time of our histopathology services.
To ensure convenience and fast turnaround time, we will provide our clients with necessary specimen containers and forms for the collection of blood and urine specimens.
Additionally, for any test beyond the capability of the in-house or regional medical laboratory, it will be sent to Clinipath’s main laboratory in Klang or to Clinipath affiliate laboratories in Western Australia when needed. This process is all handled seamlessly for you.
